Bloom where you are planted. 

Right where you are.  Right where you are in your life, your relationships, your job, your education, your finances, your mistakes and your progress. That’s right!  Right here.  Right now.

Have you ever discovered a flower blossoming in an unexpected place or time?  In the crack of a sidewalk or a dirty parking lot?  In the winter when nothing else seems alive?  Blooming at the wrong time.  Blooming in the wrong spot.  Daisies do that.  Dandelions too.  They bloom where they are planted.  We wonder how that happened, or how they got there, and isn’t it beautiful? This beautiful mistake.  The beauty in the ugly place. 

A wildflower is amazing!

But we humans can find a million reasons not to bloom. We see mistakes and bad timing and hurdles, roadblocks. Surrounded by dirt or shadows, poor lighting, the mess you did not make, or endless chaos.  Again.  Because you’ve already tried.  Hard.  Said all the things.  Did all the things.  We’ll start when things are different than this pile of garbage.

But consider the idea that repeated efforts are natural and the mistakes an important part of your growth.  The timing is not something to be overcome but incorporated.  Even welcomed!  The hurdle is the answer to our prayer. The shadows shelter the lessons. (If you squint, you can see them.) 

Did you know that wind makes flowers stronger?

Because the mistake and the dirt and the chaos are fertilizer.  They are necessary.  NECESSARY FERTILIZER!

The only thing there is to do is to simply bloom right there.  Just a tiny bloom in that ridiculous place.  With that speck of light.  With that fertilizer. 

I know you’ve heard it before, but you are hearing it again, because THAT’S THE POINT!  Bloom with what you have right now, not despite everything, but actually because of everything, along with everything, take everything with you!  As Dolly Parton sings, “wildflowers don’t care where they grow” and “have no regrets”. 

This is your patch of dirt.  Right here.  This is where you’ve been planted.

Be like the wildflower and bloom.
